Tempera and wax on muslin on wood, 29.5 x 21.5 cm
Introducing a new series of intimate paintings, each portraying an individual tree, titled “A Requiem in Progress”, Lucas Reiner’s elegiac cycle in memoriam, honoring his long friendship with the late artist Lawrence Carroll.
This solo exhibition, comprised of nine unique works executed in tempera and wax on muslin, is presented by Studio La Città in Verona, Italy, and after opening on June 24 (Saturday) at 11 a.m. will be on display through September 16, 2023.
“A Requiem in Progress” represents Reiner’s meditation on loss and the persistence of beauty; the artist describes this new series of paintings as “trying to see beyond our world, to catch a glimpse of something infinite.”
