“Freedoms” Artist Residency in Poland
Explores Our Ability to Choose and Engage
March 22 – April 1, 2020

Under the guidance of Lucas Reiner an international group of artists will converge on Gdańsk, a Polish city torn apart by history and one of the largest cultural centers in the Baltics, to explore the theme of freedom from March 22 through April 1, 2020 in a residency open to international artists from all disciplines and backgrounds.

The annual residency program is sponsored by the nonprofit Catena Artistorum, an international network of artists, curators and patrons bound by a common desire to create and promote a culture of spirituality in artistic creation, in partnership with Gdańsk’s Savchenko Gallery and tuBAZA, a cultural center at the crossroads of art, architecture, design and technology located in Gdynia, north of Gdańsk on the Baltic coast.

The ten-day program will alternate between times devoted to artists’ individual and collective work, workshops (painting, graphic design, photo-video, performance, installation, writing, etc.), cultural visits, and meetings with some of the city’s foremost artists. At the conclusion of the residency, the artists’ work will be exhibited at the Savchenko Gallery in Gdańsk.

All visual artists with a graduate degree or a record of past exhibitions, and at least one year of studio experience, are eligible to apply. The participation fee is €300, which includes on-site transportation, museum entries, half-board, accommodation in single-sex rooms of two-three persons. (The fee does not include transportation to and from Gdańsk and meals.) Apply by sending a resumé (including degrees, past and upcoming shows, studio experience) to info@catenart.org.
