NEW YORK SIDEWALK DRAWINGS (1996-1997): Reflecting on the post-war New York School painters while walking around New York City where I lived in the mid-1990s, I discovered a visually active world of painterly incident and accident on the stained surface of the sidewalks, which resulted from the build-up of adventitious spills (including paint) dispersed by pedestrians, bicyclists, and the effects of time; these observations inspired this series of New York Sidewalk Drawings.
